Blogging your brand

Blog your brand. It could be a shortcut to finding a job and ending unemployment. There are 2 way to blog your brand and both can be very helpful for the unemployed.  You can simply write a blog or read a blog.  Take your pick.  Both you should definitely pick one as an aide to end your unemployment.  We'll show you how to do both.

Write a Blog

A professional blog can go a long way to establishing your personal brand. It gives you a voice to discuss your occupational trends. A place to weigh in on topics related to your career. You should NOT discuss personal opinions on your professional blog unless they specifically related to your occupation.   And, most importantly, you should NOT document for posterity what happened at the party last weekend!

Creating a blog is easy. In fact, it’s simple. You can use your layoff story on IM Unemployed as your unemployment pulpit.  Try a few posts here to see if blogging is for you. The community would love to hear your voice.

If you get bitten by the blogging bug you can go to Wordpress or Blogger , create an account, and you can have a blog running in under 30 minutes.  Some reviewers believe Blogger is easier for a first time blogger.  You can try them both and see which you prefer.

There is nothing holding you back. Go ahead and shout out to the world.
Read a Blog

Don’t have the inclination to write a blog? That’s OK.  You can have a similar impact on your personal brand by simply staying in touch with other professional blogs in your niche and leaving comments.

Search out good blogs (or forums) which are dedicated to your industry, your trade or maybe even a hobby. Read them regularly, but you can’t stop there. You have to comment on the blogs in order to help establish your personal brand. Here are some helpful hints:
  • Leaving “Great post” or “Thank you for this information” will not help. You need to make considered comments and add to the discussion.
  • You can agree, disagree, or extend the topic of the post in some meaningful way. But you should be open, honest, and you should establish expertise in some way.
  • This will be establishing your brand so make sure your comments are grammatically correct and spell checked. All too often I see comments which do not meet either criterion.
  • These comments will be there to follow you…for better or for worse. Make them something valuable to read.
If you add enough meaningful comments to a particular blog, it’s possible that blogger will invite you to create a guest post. You should absolutely take advantage of this opportunity.

blogging is great and it's one of the ways to express yourself to the world and it even is one of the million ways for others to notice you and your brand if you're into promoting something. thanks for this very informative post, this gives us the readers to know some other points to consider when we're into promotion and/or if we're into online business. smilies/smiley.gif
